The iPhone manufacturer Foxconn is talking to the Uttar Pradesh government to set up its manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh. At the time of the last land allotment for HCL-Foxcon chip joint venture Vama Sundari, Invest was proposed to Foxconn by UP. According to PTI news, the Uttar Pradesh government is interacting with Foxconn to set up its electronics manufacturing unit in the state through Invest UP.
Discussion of availability of 300 acres of land
According to the news, in the conversation, the Uttar Pradesh government has discussed the availability of 300 acres of land under Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority i.e. Yida. However, a source present in the discussion says that the conversation is currently in a very early phase. There is no talk about the type of products in this meeting. There has been no discussion on what type of products Foxconn will make. When questions related to this were sent to the Uttar Pradesh government, no answer was received, while Foxconn did not comment on this development.
4,000 jobs expected to be born
Let us tell you, the Uttar Pradesh government has already allotted 48 acres of land for the Vama Sundari Project in Sector 28 of Yeida. The joint venture will initially invest Rs 3,706 crore to set up outsourced semiconductor assembly and Test ie OSAT facility. This is expected to create about 4,000 jobs. Foxconn is the largest iPhone manufacturer in the country.
Export of mobile phone across the top level ever
According to Icea, the export of mobile phones from India has crossed the top level of Rs 2 lakh crore in FY 2024-25 till date. This is 55 percent more than Rs 1.29 lakh crore recorded in FY 2023-24.
