Ahmedabad, 12 June (IANS). Gautam Adani, chairman of Adi Group, expressed grief over the Ahmedabad plane accident and said that we have condolences with the families of the victims of the incident.
Adani said, “We are shocked and very unhappy with the Air India Flight 171 accident. Our condolences are with families who have suffered unimaginable damage. We are working together with all the officials and giving full support to the existing families on the ground.”
Additionally, officials of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) or Ahmedabad International Airport said that all flight operations would be temporarily suspended until next notice.
The SVPIA spokesperson said, “All flight operations will remain temporarily suspended till next notice. Passengers are advised to get information from the concerned airlines for new updates before going to the airport.”
The spokesman said, “We request you to cooperate and be patient. Airport officials are dealing with this emerging situation. Further information will be made available soon.”
All roads around the area were immediately closed to ensure the rapid movement of rescue teams and emergency services due to the accident.
Made by American company Boeing, this Air India aircraft was going from Ahmedabad to London and crashed shortly after flying. The aircraft were riding 242 people, including 10 crew members and three young children.
Air India’s statement said, the flight of the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which left Ahmedabad at 13:38 pm, was riding 242 passengers and crew members. Of these, 169 are Indian citizens, 53 are British citizens, one Canadian citizen and seven Portuguese citizens.
The airline said, “The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals.”
