Adani Semiconductor Plant
Adani Group in collaboration with an Israeli company is going to set up a semiconductor manufacturing plant in Maharashtra with a total investment of Rs 83,947 crore ($ 10 billion), an official statement said. The Maharashtra government has approved four mega high-technology projects, including Adani Group’s project in partnership with Tower Semiconductor. These projects are expected to attract a total investment of Rs 1.17 lakh crore and create about 29,000 employment opportunities.
There will also be investment in EV
Officials said the projects were approved in a meeting of the state cabinet’s sub-committee on the industry department on Thursday evening. A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Friday said that these projects will lead to investments in sectors such as semiconductor and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said these projects will help strengthen the local supply chain and promote technology innovation, research and development. Shinde said, “These projects will help stakeholders related to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and provide training and skill development opportunities to the local workforce.”
Employs 15,000 people
According to the statement, Adani Group will set up a huge semiconductor manufacturing project in collaboration with Israeli company Tower Semiconductor. An investment of Rs 58,763 crore will be made in the first phase of the project and Rs 25,184 crore in the second phase. The total investment on this project will be Rs 83,947 crore, which is expected to provide employment to 15,000 people. This will be the first step of Adani Group, which is active in diverse businesses, in the field of semiconductor manufacturing. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on social media platform ‘X’ that the Adani-Tower alliance will set up this chip manufacturing plant in Taloja on the outskirts of Mumbai.
40,000 chips will be made every month
He said that in the first phase, 40,000 chips will be made per month, while in the second phase this capacity will increase to 80,000 per month. Apart from this, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India will set up an electric vehicle manufacturing project in Pune with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore, which will provide employment to 1,000 people. According to the official statement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Company will bring its huge electric vehicle manufacturing project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. This project will have an investment of Rs 21,273 crore and will create about 12,000 jobs. Apart from this, Raymond Luxury Cottons will set up a huge project in Amravati where products will be manufactured through spinning, yarn dyeing, jute weaving, cotton, jute, mesta and cotton weaving. This project will have an investment of Rs 188 crore and will provide employment to 550 people. Earlier, in the meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee held in July, projects worth Rs 80,000 crore were approved. In the last two months, projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore were approved which will create 35,000 jobs.
