New Delhi, 27 April (IANS). Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Sunday said on Sunday, on the report of the shipment of shipment sent by veteran American technology company Apple to the US in India from next year, said on Sunday that Make in India is now going globally.
The Union Minister shared a clip of a newspaper on the social media platform X and wrote, “Make in India globally.”
His statement shows the growing abilities of the country in manufacturing.
According to a Financial Times report, technology sector veteran company Apple is planning to transfer the entire iPhone for the US to India by next year.
This will be a major step in Apple’s global manufacturing strategy as the company wants to reduce its dependence on China.
However, the final decision will depend on how fast India can strengthen its supply chain and how the ongoing trade talks between China and the US move forward.
According to the report, US President Donald Trump is also pressurizing Apple to take his production out of China due to business tension. Trump recently confirmed that the discussion on tariffs with China is still going on.
Apple’s contract manufacturers in India are already expanding their operations. Foxconn’s new plant in Bengaluru is expected to be operational this month and it can produce 20 million iPhones at full capacity.
Apple’s manufacturing capacity in India is already strong. Last year, $ 22 billion iPhone assembled in India.
Currently, India contributes about 20 percent of Apple’s total iPhone production worldwide, showing the country’s strong manufacturing potential.
