What did Rohit Kapoor say
Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food and Marketplace, said that some people claim to work till late night, but they do not tell that the work hours i.e. the timing of starting their work is late. He said- Those who sit at 3 o’clock in the night do not tell that they reach office at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Kapoor also said that hard work is necessary for success, but it should not come at the cost of one’s personal life.
Emphasis on spending time with family
He stressed the importance of spending time with family, friends and loved ones and asked employees to prioritize their relationships outside of work. Kapoor strongly opposed the notion of glorifying long working hours. Kapoor explained- Yes, there are times when you may need to put in extra hours but it should not become a habit or a mark of respect.
There is debate on hustle culture
In fact, recently, 26-year-old chartered accountant Ana Sebastian Peryil, working at EY’s Pune campus, died allegedly due to work pressure, just four months after joining the company. According to a letter written by Ana’s mother to EY India Chairman Rajeev Memani, as a new employee, Ana was under heavy workload, which affected her physically, emotionally and mentally.
