What is the government’s new rule regarding gold
Under the new rule issued by the government regarding the sale of gold, it will be necessary to have a six-digit hallmark in the jewellery. If you have jewelery that does not have a 6-digit hallmark, then you will not be able to sell it from next month i.e. April 1, 2023. The 6-digit hallmark mandated by the government is the alphanumeric Hallmark Unique Identification Number (HUID). Without this, now you will not be able to sell any gold item from 1st of next month.
What is this HUID and why it has been implemented
Having a 6-digit alphanumeric Hallmark Unique Identification Number (HUID) on gold jewelery and articles will not only identify its authenticity, but will also help in getting complete information about the buyer and seller. With this decision of the government, frauds at the time of buying gold will also reduce. This will increase people’s faith in gold even more. This is the reason why the government has made this 6-digit alphanumeric Hallmark Unique Identification Number (HUID) mandatory.
