Notification issued with approval from Commerce and Industry Minister
The government on Monday has taken a big and important decision towards banning cheap goods. The government has banned occupation and import of roller chain to prevent cheap imports from countries like China. Ban on import of possession of less than Rs 280 per kg
The government said that if the price of possession is less than Rs 280 per kg, then the ban on its imports will be applicable. Similarly, if the price of a roller chain is less than Rs 235 per kg, then restrictions on imports will be applicable. The Directorate General of External Affairs (DGFT) said in the notification, “Import of possession of less than Rs 280 per kg is prohibited.”
In addition to China, doors are imported from Germany and Italy
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in another notification that the import of roller chains and parts worth less than Rs 235 per kg has been banned. Importers of both these things will have to get permission from DGFT if the import price is lower than fixed rates. In India, mainly occupation is imported from countries like Italy and Germany besides China. Whereas chains are especially imported from China, Germany and Japan.
