Government is encouraging science to realize developed India: Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, October 27 (IANS). Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Sunday said the major initiatives taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in the science and technology sector are aimed at realizing a “developed India”.

Speaking to the media, Jitendra Singh spoke about the government’s bold and strategic “Science Incentive” including launch of a Rs 1,000 crore venture capital fund to support space startups, introduction of Bio E3 policy aimed at creating a bioeconomy. Doing is involved.

“The key initiatives of the Modi government in the first 100 days of its third term reflect its commitment to advance India’s role on the global innovation platform,” the minister said.

Jitendra Singh said that apart from enhancing India’s scientific capacity, this initiative also contributes to a sustainable, self-reliant economy that can withstand global changes in industry and resources.

He said this initiative will also ensure India’s leadership in important areas such as space exploration, biotechnology and meteorology.

He said the special venture capital fund for the space sector is part of a broader plan to leverage India’s growing base of about 300 space startups.

Jitendra Singh said the decision to open up the sector to private players has brought about a “significant change in the space ecosystem”. Starting from just one startup, this strategy has helped develop “an ecosystem comprising hundreds of space technology companies today”.

Referring to the global recognition India has received due to achievements like Chandrayaan-3 mission, Jitendra Singh said, “India’s space economy will play an important role in the development of our country.”

Highlighting the upcoming Gaganyaan space mission, the minister said space progress aims to be pioneered “with innovation, precision and reliability”.

Gaganyaan mission will be India’s first manned space mission which is expected to be launched in 2026.

Similarly, with the Bio E3 policy, Singh outlined a vision for a “bio-powered” future.

He emphasized that the next industrial revolution will arise from bio-economy initiatives rather than traditional manufacturing. The government is “exploiting biotechnology potential” to promote “inclusive and environmentally sustainable” economic growth.

Singh also announced important updates on Mission Mausam, an initiative launched within the first 100 days of the Modi government’s third term, aimed at enhancing the accuracy of meteorological forecasts.
