New Delhi, May 28 (IANS). The Department of Consumer Affairs (DOCA) said on Wednesday that the government is focusing on better quality standard to make Indian products competitive globally.
Talking to news agency IANS on the sideline of ‘India Quality Mission’, DOCA Secretary Nidhi Khare said that it is important to have quality in both exports and domestic markets.
He said that it is mandatory for any sector to be competitive globally.
Khare said, “In today’s time customers prefer to take good quality products. It is not only necessary for exports, but also for domestic markets.”
The Secretary of DOCA under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said that a large part of India’s manufacturing sector comes from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the government is working closely with them.
He said, “MSME is the main manufacturer in our country, so we have started contact with them to understand their challenges and to address any of their complaints.”
Khare further stated that they are actively contact with MSME to understand their challenges and resolve any issue related to quality standards.
He said, “Any nation that moves forward has to ensure the credibility of its goods and services. There can be no shortage in quality or no discount.”
Many MSME parties and industry associations participated in the ‘India Quality Mission’ program. It aims to create awareness about quality and encourage industries to adopt higher standards for better development and consumer trust.
