However, there will be no seating arrangement like a restaurant. Travelers will be able to buy food items from here at affordable rates. AAI officials say that food items will be available here at about 60-70 percent cheaper.
At present, a tea is available at the airport for around Rs 125 to 200. But in the economy zone it will be available between Rs 50-60. In these economy zones, you will be able to take food from the counter in the same way. Like you go to the food zone of the mall and get food. However, after getting food in the mall, you can sit there and enjoy the food, which will not be possible at the airport. Preparations are also underway to provide people with the facility to pack their food and take it with them. In fact, expensive food adds extra burden to the airport and passengers have complained about it many times.
When will the economy zones be ready?
According to media reports, Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has held several rounds of meetings in this matter. It has been agreed to start work on this. Preparations will be made to create such zones by discussing with AAI and other outlets serving food at the airport as well as new agencies. This scheme will be implemented first at the newly constructed airport. They will be designed accordingly. After this, places will be selected for eco zones at the rest of the airports and then preparations for developing such zones will be started.

But now the central government is going to provide better food and drink facilities for the common passengers at the airport. According to sources, no rules have been decided yet regarding these zone areas. These will be decided according to the size of the airport and the number of aircraft and passengers. This much space will be created at small and medium airports. Which will have 6-8 shops and will have the capacity to handle at least 200 passengers every hour.
