New Delhi. The treasury of the Central Government has received 2.01 lakh crore as the GST of May. This is less than GST in April. However, GST collection was 16.4 percent more in May 2025 as compared to May 2024. Earlier in April 2025, GST collection was 2.37 lakh crore. So much GST was never found before. Talking about April 2024, then the GST collection was 2.10 lakh crores. The GST collection was Rs 1.96 lakh crore in March 2025.
The GST data of April had shown that it had increased by 10.7 percent due to domestic transactions. GST on imported goods increased by 20.8 per cent to 46913 crore. In April 2025, the government returned Rs 27341 crore as GST refund to traders. Net GST increased by 9.1 percent after the refund was adjusted. Whereas, in March, the GST collection was 6.8 percent more than Rs 1.84 lakh crore in February. In this way, more than 2 lakh crores is coming in the GST collection. With this, the states are getting more money along with the Center.
In April 2025, 48634 crore came from GST in the central government treasury. At the same time, the states received a total of Rs 59372 crore from GST. 69504 crore was received from integrated GST and 12293 crore from cess. After coming to power, the Modi government passed the GST bill from Parliament in 2016. After which GST was implemented from 1 April 2017. Petroleum products are not kept in GST. Due to which the Central Government Excise and State Governments take VAT on these products. Although the demand for bringing petroleum products into GST has been raising long back, but the states have not agreed to it due to high income from VAT.
