New Delhi, 7 June (IANS). In the last 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, the institutional loan for agriculture has increased from Rs 7.3 lakh crore to Rs 27.5 lakh crore. This information was given by the Finance Ministry on Saturday.
The ministry said on the social media platform X, “PM Narendra Modi ensured that the Annadata gets financial assistance on time and does not have to wait for it. With this, the institutional loan for agriculture has almost quadruple, which has increased from Rs 7.3 lakh crore in 2013-14 to Rs 27.5 lakh crore in 2024-25.
According to the central government, “Since 2014, under the leadership of PM Modi, our Annadas have reached the honor, income support, MSP assurance, agri-infra and global market.
According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, increasing the income of farmers, reducing the cost of fields, providing modern facilities to farmers from seeds to markets, is the priority of our government.
The budget estimates of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare have recorded a great increase in 11 years, which has increased from Rs 27,663 crore in 2013-201 to Rs 1,37,664.35 crore in 2024-25.
This increase in budget allocation has played an important role in changing the agricultural sector of the country, more investment in infrastructure, modern farming methods, expansion of assistance schemes and increasing income security for farmers.
In the past years, there has also been a great increase in India’s food production. The country’s food production has increased from 265.05 million tonnes in 2014-15 to an estimated 347.44 million tonnes in 2024-25, which shows a strong growth in agricultural production.
According to the central government, MSP for wheat has increased from Rs 1400 per quintal in 2013-14 to Rs 2,425 per quintal in 2024-25, which shows a great growth of 73 percent.
The central government says that this ensured better returns to wheat growers.
According to official information, a total of Rs 6.04 lakh crore has been distributed as MSP payment of wheat during 2014-2024.
