NPCI advised to avoid digital payment fraud
During the festive season, people do a lot of shopping in search of attractive offers and discounts. In this competition, many times users ignore checking the validity of the platform. NPCI has advised users to do adequate research about such sellers and those whose business is not trustworthy.
According to NPCI, people’s inclination towards shopping increases during the festive season. Customers may not remember what they ordered, increasing their chances of falling for a phishing scam. In such a situation, it is advisable to re-check the payment link so that fake delivery modification can be avoided. Additionally, users are asked to use strong, unique passwords to protect their accounts from hacking.
NPCI has asked citizens and users to be wary of platforms they have not heard of when researching to make a purchase. Also, don’t share too much personal information on these platforms. NPCI has advised users to avoid using unsecured public networks such as shopping mall Wi-Fi.
