New Delhi, 13 July (IANS). Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India and Iceland must be geographically away, but both share the same feeling of innovation and positive energy for the good future of their people.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Union Minister said that he has performed a very fruitful and productive journey from Iceland, in which Iceland Deputy Permanent Secretary Burgdis Alertsdotir organized a dinner for the Indian delegation.
Puri said in the post, “We also joined Iceland Ambassador to India, Amb Benedict Hoskuldson and many energy, trade and multilateral experts. I am heartily grateful to them for the warmth and hospitality of Iceland people and energy professionals.”
Earlier, the Union Minister met Carfix Chief Commercial Officer Christin English Laruson. Carfix is an Icelandic carbon capture company that injects carbon dioxide into underground basalt structures and transforms it into stone.
The Union Minister said, “There are large basaltic rock structures on the west coast of India, where CO2 and water can be injected for permanent carbon capture and storage in a cost effective manner by industrial units, this technology can play an impressive role in India’s visit towards green energy change under the leadership of PM Modi.”
The Union Minister further said that in a meeting held at Rekjavik with Iceland’s largest gender energy company, ON Power CEO, Arni Hernar Heraldson, we came to know about how the company produces both electricity and warm water in hello and Neszawellir geothermal plants and how electricity is generated through Andqlesa Hydro station.
Puri said, “We discussed the company’s sustainable development and efforts to build electric vehicle charging infrastructure, which encourages both public and commercial stakeholders for green transport solutions.”
He further said that these techniques can have good possibilities for India as Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh have gender capacity in the Himalayas.
