Petroleum Minister Hardeep S Puri addressing the Advantage Assam 2.0 Business Summit on Wednesday in Guwahati.
The government is considering increasing its target of adding ethanol to petrol to more than 20 percent in the coming time. For this, a committee has been formed under NITI Aayog. Petroleum Minister Hardeep S Puri gave this information on Wednesday. According to PTI news, the Petroleum Minister said that the 19.6 percent mixture has already been achieved. Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Business Summit in Guwahati, he said that we are considering mixing more than 20 percent in biofuels.
Capacity of 1,700 million liters of mixing in the country
According to the news, the Union Minister said that by 2026 we had set a target of 20 percent mixture, but we have already achieved 19.6 percent. I am sure we will reach 20 percent next month. Puri said that the country has a capacity of 1,700 crore liters of mixture and 1,500 million liters are already being used. With India spent US $ 150 billion on various types of fuel imports, he said that an area where there is a lack of attention is green hydrogen. The minister said that the price of green hydrogen is currently US $ 4.5. If you can bring it close to US $ 2.5, there will be a revolution.
Will see massive changes
Puri said that in the coming time we will look at a massive change from traditional fuel towards green hydrogen. Every country is moving towards clean energy, but it will have to be avoided by the challenges and demands of the economy. Fuel is needed for an increase of 6-7 percent for an economy like India. We need to survive in the present future. Puri said that all fossil fuel production companies will achieve pure zero by 2045, even if India has development challenges.
Using 5 million barrels of crude oil daily
The Petroleum Minister said that a country on global platforms will be evaluated on the basis of its energy consumption. If energy consumption is slowing down, it means that the economy has started indicating danger. The minister said that we are using 5.5 million barrels per day, which was earlier 5 million barrels. I think India will consume 6.5-7 million barrels in a short-term to medium period. On the discovery and production of hydrocarbons (E&P), Puri said that by 2030 production is likely to reach 5 million tonnes.
