Mumbai, Sep 5 (IANS) Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said here on Thursday that it is now well established that India will become the world’s third largest economy by the end of this decade, during the third term of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.
In his Teachers’ Day address at the city’s Jai Hind College, Gautam Adani said India is in a position to further strengthen several key initiatives launched by the central government and continue with the economic and social programmes that have been the driving force behind our remarkable journey over the last decade.
The Adani Group chairman said, “As a nation – we have never been closer to achieving this than we are today. We are on the cusp of an incredible period where India is set to become one of the largest growth platforms the world has ever seen before.”
Despite the global economic conditions, India remains a shining star. The country has become the fifth largest economy in the world. The IMF has raised India’s growth forecast for the financial year 2024-25 to seven percent from 6.8 percent estimated in April. The World Bank has also revised India’s growth forecast for the current financial year to seven percent from the previous 6.6 percent. The tremendous momentum driven by digital transformation is providing certainty and making the country’s growth exciting.
Gautam Adani said, “Over the last decade, we have built a robust digital infrastructure that is coveted by other countries across the world. Take UPI, a revolution in digital finance that has made seamless transactions a part of the lifestyle of millions of people. Also, our leadership in mobile technology has empowered every corner of the country more than ever before, making digital inclusion a reality.”
He said the Adani Group has helped redefine the country’s infrastructure, from airports to ports, logistics to industrial parks and energy, but these victories do not define the group.
The Adani Group Chairman said, “The mindset of accepting challenges and overcoming them has shaped the journey of the Adani Group. Resilience is not about surviving a fall. It is about getting back up stronger every time you fall. It is about overcoming the impossible and emerging stronger on the other side.”
