Mumbai, 27 February (IANS). The Indian stock market was closed in a limited range on Thursday, vigilance in investors dominated. At the end of the business, heavy selling was seen in the auto and PSU bank sector.
At the end of the trading, the Sensex rose by 10.31 points or 0.01 percent to close at 74,612.43. The index touched the Intra-Day High of 74,834.09, but also saw a low of 74,520.78 before closing.
The Nifty Index closed down 2.50 points or 0.01 percent to close at 22,545.05. The index continued to trade between 22,613.30 and 22,508.40 during the session.
The Nifty remained in a limited range throughout the day and then closed flat. The vendors dominated the market even at high levels.
The metaphor of LKP Securities said, “The level of 22,500 at the lower level remains as support, just as there was 22,800 levels a few days ago. We hope that the Nifty will fall towards 22,200 and if it falls below 22,500, it will go down further.”
The Nifty Bank rose 135.45 points or 0.28 percent to close at 48,743.80. The Nifty Midcap 100 index fell 565.40 points or 1.14 percent to close at 49,136.75, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index fell 252 points or 1.64 percent to close at 15,156.60.
The Sensex pack featured Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Sunforma, Jomato, Tata Steel, Nestle India, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and Titan top gainers. At the same time, UltraTech Cement, Tata Motors, M&M, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech and NTPC Top Lois were.
Investors remained uncertain about the market direction, which led to less participation in equity.
The rupee remained close to 87.17 after facing heavy fluctuations, which weakened by 87.54, then reached 87.10.
Jatin Trivedi, Vice President of LKP Securities, Jatin Trivedi said, “The session ended on the neutral note, as the dollar index remained in a limited scope and the FII selling was stopped by DII flow, which stabilized the secondary market.”
He said that the speed of the rupee later will depend on global signals, dollar speed and oil prices trends.
