Mumbai, 7 April (IANS). The Indian stock market closed down on Monday due to weak global cues. However, it is a matter of relief that the market saw recovery in the last business hours.
At the end of the trading, the Sensex fell 2,226.79 points or 2.95 percent to close at 73,137.90 and the Nifty 742.85 points or 3.24 percent to close at 22,161.60.
During the day, the Sensex touched a minimum level of 71,425 and the highest level of 73,403. The Nifty touched a minimum level of 21,743 and the highest level of 22,254.
Midcap and smallcap declined a big fall compared to largecap. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was 1,836.50 points or 3.63 percent to 48,809.45 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index at 15,067 with 608.05 points or 3.88 percent weakness.
Index India Wicks, which showed a fluctuations in the Indian stock market, saw an increase of 65 percent and closed at 22.79.
All indices of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed in red mark. Auto, IT, PSU bank, financial services, pharma, metal, realty and infra declined the most.
In the Sensex pack, 29 out of 30 shares have been closed in red mark. Tata Steel, L&T, Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank, M&M, Infosys, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finserv were the top losis. HUL closed with a slight edge.
Due to the decline, the market capitalization of all companies listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has come down by more than Rs 13.50 lakh crore to Rs 389.87 lakh crore.
Vinod Nair, head of the research head of Geojit Financial Services, said the stock market declined a major decline in the US and other major countries. IT and metal declined the most. The reason for this is the possibility of a slowdown in the US.
He further said that these tariffs are less likely to be affected by India than other countries. Also advised investors to focus on the domestic theme.
The Indian stock market opened with a major decline due to poor global cues. At 9:35 in the morning, the Sensex fell 2,381 points or 3.12 percent to 73,010 and the Nifty declined 816 points or 3.56 percent to 22,088.
