Mumbai, November 19 (IANS). The Central government on Tuesday said India’s objective while negotiating free trade agreements (FTAs) with various countries is to maintain equity, fair trade and balance.
Speaking at the 27th CITIC CLSA India Forum, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that India does FTAs with countries which are transparent, open and whose government and economic systems are compatible with India.
The Union Minister said that providing basic amenities to the citizens has been the priority of the government for the last decade, thereby empowering Indians to have bigger aspirations and ensuring that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, moves towards democracy, demography, Can harness the 4D benefits of Dividend, Demand and Decisive Leadership.
Urging the participants at the forum to continue investing in the country, the Union Minister said that the country is moving towards becoming a ‘Developed India’ by 2047 and India will become the best business destination for the world in the times to come.
On a question about skill development in the country, Goyal said that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced five schemes worth $30 billion in Budget 2024.
Goyal said, “The focus of the government in the coming years will be on allowing the youth to get formal education as per their wish and pursue the vocation of their choice. CSR spend in skill development will also drive growth in the coming years. “
He further said that the effort of the government in the last 10 years has been to completely satisfy every individual, every child, every family of the country, so that no person is deprived of basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education. Don’t stay.
