New Delhi, January 18 (IANS). India’s auto sector will grow at a rapid pace in the coming times and the ‘Make in India’ initiative run by the government is helping companies produce more vehicles locally as well as export them. Industry leaders gave this information on Saturday.
Speaking to news agency IANS at the ongoing ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025’ in the national capital, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Development Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said that the auto sector accounts for about 50 per cent of the country’s manufacturing gross domestic product (GDP). But more importantly, the auto sector is going in the right direction and the future is quite good.
Gupta further said that this is the time to Make in India and export more vehicles to the world. Government policies are very helpful for the industry.
He further said that JSW MG Motor India is one of the leading companies in the country to enter EV manufacturing.
Gupta said, “We launched our first EV MG ZS EV in January 2020. We are offering lifetime battery buyback in our products. 70 percent of our sales are from EVs. We are also bringing more products in the same category. “
Speaking to IANS, Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior VP, Sales and Marketing, Kia India, said that they are trying to make as many vehicles as possible.
“This year, we are coming out with the first EV made in India. Kia India has achieved over 80 per cent localization level. Now we are trying to do more localization on the EV front,” Brar said.
The expo is being organized from 17-22 January at three venues Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Yashobhoomi, Dwarka and India Expo Center & Mart, Greater Noida.
The theme of ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025’ is “Beyond Borders: Co-creating the Automotive Value Chain of the Future”. The vision aims to foster collaboration and innovation in the automotive and mobility sector, with an emphasis on sustainability and cutting-edge technological advancements.
