New Delhi, January 15 (IANS). The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Wednesday that India’s total goods and services exports increased by 6.03 percent to $ 602.64 billion in the April-December period of the current financial year, which was $ 568.36 billion in the same period of the last financial year.
The cumulative value of merchandise exports during April-December 2024 was $321.71 billion, while it was $316.65 billion during April-December 2023, showing a positive growth of 1.6 per cent, the official statement said.
India’s total merchandise and services exports in December 2024 are estimated to be $70.67 billion, which is 0.92 percent higher than December 2023. At the same time, the total import of goods and services for this month is estimated at $ 77.44 billion, which is 6.4 percent more than the same period last year.
Electronic goods, engineering goods, rice, all types of readymade garments and handloom products had the highest share in merchandise exports last month.
Exports of electronic goods increased by 35.11 percent from $ 2.65 billion in December 2023 to $ 3.58 billion in December 2024.
Exports of engineering goods have increased by 8.35 percent to $10.84 billion in December 2024 as compared to $10.01 billion in December 2023.
Rice export was $0.87 billion in December 2023, which has increased by 64.03 percent to $1.43 billion in December 2024.
Exports of ready-made garments increased by 12.89 percent from $ 1.30 billion in December 2023 to $ 1.46 billion in December 2024.
Exports of cotton yarn, fabrics and handloom products increased by 11.98 percent from the level of $0.94 billion in December 2023 to $1.05 billion in December 2024.
The value of non-petroleum exports in December 2024 was $33.09 billion, compared to $31.50 billion in December 2023, showing a growth of 5.05 per cent.
The value of cumulative non-petroleum exports in April-December 2024 stood at $272.70 billion, registering a growth of 7.05 per cent as compared to $254.74 billion in April-December 2023.
Non-petroleum, non-gem and jewelery exports have increased by 8.25 percent from $28.60 billion in December 2023 to $30.96 billion in December 2024.
Services worth $32.66 billion were exported in December 2024, which was $31.63 billion in the same period last year. Import of services has increased to $17.50 billion in December 2024. This figure was $15.63 billion in December 2023.
