New Delhi, 13 May (IANS). Discussions are being held around ‘Made in India’ weapons in ‘Operation Sindoor’. Meanwhile, the central government has shared a post on the social media platform ‘X’ regarding the defense budget.
According to the information given by the central government on Tuesday, the defense budget of the country has increased 4.28 lakh crores in the last 12 years to Rs 6.81 lakh crore in 2025-26. India’s defense budget has increased more than 150 percent in these years, which reflects India’s strong commitment to increase national security, modernization of armed forces and strengthen military infrastructure.
The Ministry of Defense said on the social media platform X, “The Defense Budget has increased from Rs 2.53 lakh crore in 2013-14 to Rs 6.81 lakh crore in 2025-26.”
The post further states that strategic reforms, private sector participation and innovation played an important role in promoting indigenous manufacturing and contributed to the initiative to make the country ‘self -reliant India’. With this, the country’s recognition has been strengthened as a reliable defense exporter globally and India’s national security and economic development has also been strengthened.
In fact, in the Union Budget, a provision of Rs 6,81,210.27 crore has been made for the Ministry of Defense in FY 2025-26. This provision is in accordance with the technology of Prime Minister Narendra Modi -led government with the technical advanced and ‘self -sufficient’ armed forces ‘developed India 2047’.
The allocation is 9.53 percent higher than the budgetary estimate of FY 2024-25 and is 13.45 percent of the Union Budget, the highest among all ministries.
During the Indian Army’s joint press conference on ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Monday, Air Marshal AK Bharti said, “Our warfare system has lived up to the test of time and has fought Pakistan firmly.”
