New Delhi, 8 March (IANS). Giving information on Saturday, the central government said that India’s space budget has increased by about three times in the last 10 years, which has increased from Rs 5,615 crore to Rs 13,416 crore in 2025-26 in 2013-14.
According to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, “India’s space technology is no longer limited to the launch of rocket, but is also playing a major role in bringing revolution in the government by promoting transparency, grievance redressal and civil participation.”
Addressing the ‘Space Tech for Good Governance’ conference, he said, “The scope of corrupt conduct has decreased in this process, more discipline has come to follow the deadline and reduced red tape.”
The number of space startups has increased from one to 300, which has established India as a major revenue generator in the global space market.
India has launched 433 foreign satellites, out of which 396 has been launched since 2014, which has received a revenue of $ 192 million and 272 million euros.
Emphasizing the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Singh said how space technology is playing an important role in making the lives of common citizens easier through good governance.
The Union Minister said that space technology has now become an integral part of every Indian house, which is empowering various governance services capable of satellite of the Space Department.
Dr. Singh said that space technology also plays an important role in national defense, border monitoring and geopolitical intelligence, which contribute significantly to India’s security.
The Union Minister underlined the increasing importance of India’s space sector to change the governance practices with startups and livelihood creation as an attractive opportunity.
The Union Minister also emphasized the role of space technology in India’s agriculture sector. He said that this decision has become an invaluable power multiplier in making decision making, weather forecasting, communication, disaster preparation, pre -warning system, urban planning and security.
