Industrial production rose three percent in March on the basis of electricity and manufacturing sector

New Delhi, 28 April (IANS). On the basis of a rapid increase in power generation, the industrial production of the country recorded a three percent increase in March 2025. This information has been given in the data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation on Monday.

According to the ministry data, in March, power generation has increased by 6.3 percent, while the production of mining sector has recorded a slight 0.4 percent decline. The manufacturing sector, which holds a share of more than 77 percent in the Industrial Production Index, increased by three percent.

13 out of 23 industrial groups in the manufacturing sector recorded an increase in March, while the other declined.

The most contributed to the growth of this sector was the manufacturing (6.9 percent) of the three segment basic metal, manufacturing (10.3 percent) of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and manufacturing (15.7 percent) of electric equipment.

Apart from this, the production of capital goods used in factories has increased by 2.4 percent in March. The increase in this segment shows that investment in the economy is increasing. It has a direct effect on employment and income.

Consumer durables such as electronics goods, refrigerators and TV production have increased by 6.6 percent. This shows that people’s income is increasing and the demand for consumer products has increased.

The infrastructure sector recorded a strong growth of 8.8 percent due to major government projects being implemented in highways, railways and ports of ports.

The increase in the manufacturing sector is considered quite good for the economy, as it provides quality jobs to young graduates coming out of universities and engineering institutions in the country.

The official statement said that the top three positive contributors in the growth of IIPs in March based on the use -based classification were infrastructure, primary items and consumer durables.
