International Yoga Day 2025: India is playing an important role in spreading global awareness towards yoga

New Delhi, 21 June (IANS). On Saturday, on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that while meditating and yoga in Kanheri, showing Lord Buddha’s life practice and teachings, it was realized that inner peace is the origin of true progress.

Union Minister Goyal performed yoga with his family members in the historic Kanheri caves located in Sanjay Gandhi National Park on the occasion of Yoga Day.

He said, “India is playing its important role in spreading global awareness about yoga.”

In a post on social media platform X, he said, “The initiative that India takes is the future. The resolve to broadcast the sum of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 1 decade has started a new health revolution in the world, which is a historical achievement.

Spreading awareness about yoga, he said, “Today yoga is being adopted in every corner of the world. We need to spread awareness of yoga and encourage every person.”

On the initiative of PM Narendra Modi, on December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly announced to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day. This year, the theme of International Yoga Day is ‘Ek Earth, Yoga for One Health’.

The office of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a post on X, “This theme highlights the relationship between human and health and echoes the global vision of collective welfare, which lies in the philosophy of India’s ‘Survey Santu Niramaya’ (all diseases free).”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation to celebrate Yoga Day from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. From the stage, PM Modi underlined the increasing importance of yoga. He said that this event has become a topic of discussion not only in the country but also internationally.
