Mutual fund investment through systematic investment schemes (SIPs) may reach new record levels in the current financial year, despite a sharp movement in the stock markets due to the Russo-Ukraine war. According to the data, during the first 11 months (April to February) of the current financial year, SIP investment has increased by 29 per cent to Rs 1,12,238 crore. There was an investment of Rs 86,898 crore in SIPs in the same period in the last financial year.

Average investment in SIP has increased to reach Rs 9353 crore in the current financial year from Rs 7241 crore in the previous financial year. Monthly investment in SIPs has been increasing steadily since April last year and has increased from Rs 8596 crore to Rs 11,517 crore per month in January. There has been no decline in SIP investment in any of the months from April to January. Despite the huge volatility in the stock markets, investment in SIP has been increasing continuously. However, in February it has fallen to Rs 11,438 crore.
Expect more investment in the next financial year as well
Experts say that due to being the last month of the financial year 2021-22, SIP investment in March may remain slightly lower. However, SIP investments may remain high for the next six months and the entire financial year. This is because the participation of the mutual fund market is increasing.
SBI Mutual Fund adds 30 lakh new SIPs
SBI Mutual Fund has added more than 30 lakh new SIPs in the current financial year till the end of January. This is an increase of 39 percent as compared to the previous year. The average monthly SIP investment of SBI Mutual Fund has been Rs 1800 crores, while the average monthly investment per customer has been Rs 2500.

SBI Mutual Fund says that more than 50 percent of its SIP investments are coming from smaller cities like Tier-2 and Tier-3. More investments are coming in due to strong banking network and increasing investor confidence in the last three-four years. Similarly, in the SIP of Nippon India Mutual Fund, an investment of Rs.2010 crore has also been received in December 2010. Last year in the same quarter, an investment of Rs 1770 crore was received.
