New Delhi, 4 April (IANS). Sridhar Weambu, the founder of the Enterprise Cloud Software Head ‘Joho’, on Friday expressed his strong support for change towards deep tech innovation in India. He asked engineers and startups to offer the sleeves up and focus on building their real technical abilities.
In a post of a post on social media platform X, Vambu has spoken on the debate out of the recent comments made by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal about the direction of Indian startup.
Vambu described the Union Minister’s comments as a challenge to create a better solution for Indian engineers and technology experts.
Wambu wrote, “I see the call of Union Minister Piyush Goyal as a challenge for our engineers and technology experts, not as a finger. We need smart engineers who offer their sleeves and complete the work.”
Vambu stressed that the government has a role in supporting innovation, but should not try to directly manufacture or fund advance technology like robot or operating system.
“The government cannot invent better operating systems or smart robots. The government should not even fund such things.”
Instead, Vambu suggested that the government may play a more effective role by organizing such competitions in which Indian companies can participate and the best products are selected and supported through public procurement.
He said, “The government can organize more and more competitions in which companies participate and then buy the best Indian products.”
Wambu also shared advice for deep tech startup facing long R&D cycles.
In a separate post, he said, “Send vitamins and painkillers to fund your business even while working on cancer treatment”, meaning that startups can sell simple, revenue-generating products for funding your business while working towards big technological successes.
He urged startups to work with his real ability and aim to create a globally competitive technology.
