New Delhi, 29 April (IANS). The Land Port Authority has signed a memorandum of MoU (MoU) with the country’s largest government bank State Bank of India (SBI). This will provide banking services to the government bank Land Port Authority, including foreign exchange, export-import, card payment services and corporate salary package. This will benefit more than 18 lakh people.
State Bank of India Chief General Manager Debashish Mishra said that all these banking services will be provided on the entry and exit points of the land port authority. Currently, Land Port Authority has 15 entry and exit points and has 11 more connected. Later, the bank will expand its services accordingly.
He further said that about 18 lakh people go from our country to other countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh through Land Port Authority. The bank will provide necessary banking services to all these people.
The top SBI official further stated that we have 11 branches around the Land Port Authority and will open a new branch or banking outlets to further increase our reach.
According to Mishra, the bank plans to cover three entry and exit points including Petrapol on the Bangladesh border in West Bengal and Raxaul on the Nepal border in Bihar in the next six months. From where 80 percent people come and go.
Mishra further stated that we will also provide digital banking services along with physical, including net banking, phone banking, debit-credit card, foreign travel card and POS. This will also provide one-stop banking solution to the people of the area.
SBI is the largest government bank in the country. It has more than 50 crore customers and has its presence in the entire country with more than 22,500 branches. Also, the bank also has 63,580 ATMs.
