If you want to update any information in your Aadhaar Card then do not wait any longer. You have only today and tomorrow to update your Aadhar card for free. The deadline for free updating of Aadhaar is ending on 14th December i.e. Saturday. After the deadline, a fee will have to be paid to update your details. UIDAI had announced the free Aadhaar update service earlier this year, which was extended several times – from March to June, then to September and now till December 14. This time, the authority is unlikely to extend the deadline.
Facility to update this data for free
According to UIDAI, Aadhaar card holders can update their details like address, phone number, name etc. for free. If you want to update biometric details, you will have to go to the Aadhaar Enrollment Centre. According to the UIDAI website, the facility to update demographic information like name, date of birth, mobile number is not available in the mAadhaar app. Currently the facility to update address is available only through document facility. However, this feature may be added in the future.
How to update Aadhaar online?
Step-1: Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in Step-2: Then click on the ‘Login’ button, enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code, then click on ‘Send OTP’. Enter the received OTP and click on the ‘Login’ button. Step-3: Select ‘Document Update’ option. Step-4: Read the instructions and click on ‘Next’. Step-5: Check the box “I verify that the above details are correct”, then click ‘Next’. Step-6: Upload your ‘Proof of Identity’ and ‘Proof of Address’ documents, and click on ‘Submit’.
You will receive a ‘Service Request Number (Acknowledgment Number)’ via email, using which you can track the status of your document update.
