Business News Desk, For the first time, the Hurun India Rich List has reached 1,500 people. This is a 150% increase compared to 7 years ago. The number of billionaires in India crossed the 300 mark. With a net worth of Rs 11.6 lakh crore, Gautam Adani (62) and his family, whose wealth saw a 95% increase. Secured the number 1 position in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List. Hurun India includes 1,539 rich with Rs 1,000 crore. There are 272 new entrants in this. Crossed the 1,500 mark for the first time, there has been a growth of 86% in the last five years.
58-year-old Shah Rukh Khan also included in the list – The ‘King of the Indian entertainment industry’, 58-year-old Shah Rukh Khan has entered the 2024 Hurun India Rich List with a net worth of Rs 7,300 crore on the back of his stake in Kolkata Knight Riders and Red Chillies Entertainment. Others from the film industry include Juhi Chawla and her family, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar and Amitabh Bachchan.
With 17 new entries, Hyderabad has overtaken Bengaluru for the first time to rank third in terms of number of residents on the Hurun India Rich List.
It ranks eighteenth on the list of firms worth Rs 1 lakh crore or more, up six from last year; a decade ago, it was just two.
With (386) individuals, Mumbai tops the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, followed by New Delhi (217) and Hyderabad (104). Mumbai added 66 new entrants this year.
Supported by a 50% rise in HCL’s share price, 79-year-old Shiv Nadar is ranked third with a wealth of Rs 3.1 lakh crore.
The property of the rich is more than the GDP of Saudi Arabia and Switzerland – The total wealth of the rich of Hurun India has increased to Rs 159 lakh crore – which is more than the combined GDP of Saudi Arabia and Switzerland and half of the GDP of India.
In total, 1334 people in the list have seen an increase in their wealth. 272 new faces, people from 29 industries and 42 cities are included in the list. But 205 have seen a decline in their wealth. 45 are dropouts and 5 have passed away.

First angel investor-With a net worth of Rs 1,200 crore, 45-year-old Anand Chandrasekaran is the first angel investor to feature in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List
Youngest richest person in the list: The youngest billionaires on the list are Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar (both 33 years old), founders of Razorpay – a payments solutions app.
The youngest on the 2024 Hurun India Rich List is 21-year-old Kaivalya Vohra of ZEPTO, a US$5 billion quick commerce startup. His co-founder Adit Palicha, 22, is the second youngest on the list.
55 technology startup founders with assets worth Rs 2,87,100 crore and an average age of 40 years are included in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List.
The list includes a record 1,008 entrepreneurs, or 65% self-made. That’s 871 more than last year and 54% more than five years ago. This year, 64% of the new entrants are new.
Along with entrepreneurs (142), industrial products contributed the most individuals to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, followed by pharmaceuticals (136) and chemicals and petrochemicals (127). The wealth of 128 on the list has doubled, up 80 from last year, with 20 from industrial products, followed by 13 from real estate.
Women Rich – Zoho’s Radha Vembu (51) has retained her position as the richest self-made Indian woman in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List.
52 founders of 29 unicorns made it to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List. 11 people born in the 90s made it to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List.
Real Estate – 42 new entrants have been added, followed by Industrial Products and Chemicals & Petrochemicals with 40 and 17 new entrants respectively.
The average age of the list is 64 years, which is 1 year more than last year. The average age of women in the list is 65 years.
Shah Rukh Khan No.1 – With 44.1 million followers on Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan, 58, is the most followed Indian social media personality on the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, followed by Hrithik Roshan with 32.3 million followers.
Cancer tops the list – Cancer tops the list, adding 84% of the wealth, followed by Gemini and Leo. Overall, Gemini and Scorpio became the best entrepreneurs in India, leading the list with 9.9% and 9%, followed by Pisces and Aries.
