Can Lebanon-like attacks happen in India?
Serial blasts first in pagers and then in walkie-talkies have shaken Lebanon. In Lebanon, several blasts in pagers took place one after the other on Tuesday and then in walkie-talkies on Wednesday which shook the entire country. The death toll in the different blasts in Lebanon in these two days has risen to 37 while the condition of 287 people is said to be very critical. On Wednesday, a total of 25 people lost their lives and 708 people were injured. While on Tuesday 12 people died and 2323 people were injured. These blasts in Lebanon have created panic among people all over the world. Here we will know with the help of experts whether such attacks can happen in India too?
Bombing is no longer needed to attack
Well-known cyber expert Pawan Duggal, while talking exclusively with India TV, said that today the misuse of technology has reached a different level. Earlier we used to see cybercrises happening through technology. But now with the help of the same technology, any device can be turned into a weapon. He said that with the weaponization of pagers or mobile phones, a new chapter of cyber war has begun in the world. The number of mobile phones present in the world is more than humans. Pawan Duggal said that now you will not need to bomb and you can cause blasts and damage with the mobile phone itself.
The government will have to take many important steps
Pawan Duggal said that just like attacks have happened in Lebanon by exploding pagers and walkie-talkies, such attacks can happen in India too. He said that these attacks in Lebanon should be a wake-up call for India. To avoid such attacks, the government needs to take many necessary and important steps. He said that the government should bring a new law for cyber security in the country. The government should not only declare the National Cyber Security Strategy as soon as possible but also implement it effectively, on which work has been going on for many years. Mobile phone users have to be made more and more aware about such attacks and cyber security.
