There was a stir near the Chakabuda forest under Katghora tehsil of the district when the villagers saw an animal like a leopard. Seeing the animal, a crowd of local people gathered and immediately informed the forest department.
As soon as the information was received, the forest department team led by Deputy Ranger Santosh Ratre reached the spot. The department started monitoring the area with the help of a drone camera to detect the exact identity and movement of the animal.
The initial estimate states that it may be an animal like the leopard cub, but it has not been confirmed at the moment. According to the forest department, only after the analysis of video footage obtained from the drone, it will be decided whether it is actually a leopard cub or a child of any other wildlife.
The Forest Department team has appealed to be vigilance in the area and to maintain safe distance from the villagers. It was also told that monitoring will continue to monitor the activity of wildlife in the area.
Any possible threat has been postponed in time due to the awareness of the villagers and the quick action of the department.
