LIVE: Country mourns Ratan Tata's demise, Maharashtra government cancels programs

Ratan Tata Demise: Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata has passed away. He breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday night at the age of 86. His demise has spread grief from businessmen to entertainment, politics and sports world. On this occasion, the Maharashtra government has canceled all the programs. On Thursday, his body will be kept at NCPA for paying homage. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced this.

Tata’s family said in a statement, ‘We – his brother, sister and family, find solace and solace in the love and respect he received from all those who respected him. Although Ratan Tata is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran in a statement described Ratan Tata as his ‘friend and mentor’.

Maharashtra and Jharkhand governments have declared one-day state mourning on Tata’s death. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that all entertainment and celebratory programs will remain canceled in the state. Also, his last rites will be performed with full state honours.
