Mumbai, March 21 (IANS). The country’s legendary auto company Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Friday announced to increase the prices of its SUV and commercial vehicles by 3 percent.
The company said that the new prices will be applicable from April 2025. The reason for this is to increase input costs and commodity prices.
It was said by M&M that an attempt was made to bear the increased cost to a large extent, but now it was necessary to pass a part of it for customers.
The company said in the official statement that prices increase is based on different models of SUVs and commercial vehicles.
The company recently announced that its total auto sales were 83,702 units in February. In the ‘Utility Vehicles’ segment, Mahindra sold 50,420 SUVs in the domestic market and a total of 52,386 vehicles including exports. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles were 23,826 units.
The sale of Mahindra & Mahindra tractors also saw a surge in February.
In February 2025 domestically, tractor sales were 23,880 units, which was more than the sales of 20,121 units in February 2024.
The company exported 1,647 tractors in February 2025, causing a total tractor sales of 25,527 units, which were 21,672 units in the same period last year.
Prior to Mahindra & Mahindra, other legendary auto companies of the country have also announced an increase in prices. This includes Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Kia, Honda and Tata Motors. Luxury car brands like BSW are also going to increase prices from next month.
According to media reports, the Indian automobile industry is facing rising prices of raw materials and more logistic expenses, increasing the production costs.
