The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved a change in livestock health and disease control program of Rs 3,880 crore. Under this scheme, high quality and inexpensive generic veterinary medicines will be provided to cattle ranchers. Let us tell you that Livestock Health and Disease Control Program (LHDCP) is a scheme of the Central Government for prevention and treatment of diseases occurring in animals. The purpose of this scheme is to improve animal health and promote animal husbandry. This scheme will benefit the cattle rearers of village.
Medicines will be distributed through cooperative societies
High quality medicines will be made available under the Animal Drug Provision of this scheme. ”Vaishnav said that the animal medicine will be similar to the Jan Aushadhi Yojana. Under this, generic veterinary medicines will be distributed through PM Kisan prosperity centers and cooperative societies. Vaishnav said that traditional knowledge of veterinary drugs will also be revived and this traditional knowledge document will also be prepared as part of the scheme. The cabinet has approved Rs 75 crore from the total budget allocation to promote good quality and cheap generic veterinary medicines supply and sales under the provision of ‘Animal medicine’. After this change, now LHDCP has a total of three parts. These include National Animal Disease Control Program (NADCP), Livestock Health and Disease Control (LH&DC) and Animal medicine.
Farmers’ income will improve
Livestock health and disease control program focuses on the prevention of diseases such as cars and mouth disease (FMD), brucellosis and lumps in the skin through vaccination of diseases like lump skin disease. The scheme also supports the supply of livestock health care facilities to the homes of cattle rearers and improvement in generic veterinary medicines. Vaishnav said that nine states are ready to be declared free from Khurpaka and Mouthpass Disease (FMD). These states include Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra. He said that the world’s largest milk producer is free from India’s FMD and running a systematic and well -operated vaccination program will help significantly help in exporting milk and milk products and will improve farmers’ income.
