Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his US visit participated in a roundtable meeting with CEOs of American tech companies, where he highlighted India’s growth potential and discussed initiatives to boost bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The meeting was held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on Sunday during the second leg of Modi’s three-day US visit. According to PTI news, it was attended by CEOs of 15 leading American firms working on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, quantum computing and semiconductors. The meeting was a great success.
There is immense optimism towards India
PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X-Had a fruitful roundtable meeting with technology CEOs in New York, discussing aspects related to tech, innovation and others. Also highlighted the progress made by India in this field. I am happy to see immense optimism towards India. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during the conference, Modi said that efforts such as technology cooperation and the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) are at the core of the India-US comprehensive global strategic partnership. The Prime Minister emphasized that in his third term, India will make every effort to become the third largest economy in the world and encouraged companies to take advantage of India’s growth story for collaboration and innovation.

Organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering, the conference was attended by CEOs of top US tech firms, including Google CEO Pichai, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. Others who attended the roundtable include AMD CEO Lisa Su, HP Inc. CEO Enrique Lores, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, Moderna Chairman Dr Noubar Afeyan and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg. Assuring the business leaders about India’s deep commitment to protecting intellectual property and promoting technological innovation, Modi highlighted the economic transformation taking place in the country.
Emphasis on making India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing
Modi emphasised that his government is committed to making India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing. He also spoke about India’s BIO E3 (Biotechnology for Environment, Economy and Employment) policy to develop the country as a biotechnology superpower and on the subject of AI, said that India’s policy is to promote AI for all, based on its ethical and responsible use. The CEOs appreciated India’s growing prominence as a global technology hub, driven by its innovation-friendly policies and thriving market opportunities. They also expressed keen interest in investing and collaborating with India, agreeing that investing in startups would be a synergistic opportunity to innovate and develop new technologies in the country.

Others attending the conference include Biogen Inc CEO Chris Viehbacher, Bristol Myers Squibb CEO Chris Borner, Eli Lilly and Co CEO David A. Ricks, LAM Research CEO Tim Archer, GlobalFoundries CEO Thomas Caulfield and Kindryl CEO Martin Schroeter. Earlier, Modi addressed the Indian diaspora at a packed Nassau Veterans Coliseum in Long Island, New York. He also held bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session here. Modi arrived in New York on Saturday after attending the Quad Leaders Summit hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware.
