More than 220 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions took place in February, a tremendous jump of 14 percent: Central government

New Delhi, 8 March (IANS). According to the central government, in February, about 225 crore Aadhaar Authentication Transactions and 43 crore e-KYC transactions were performed, which shows a 14 percent increase on an annual basis. The government shared this information on Friday.

E-KYC service has been helpful in providing a spontaneous and safe experience for customers in both non-banking financial service. This service has also contributed to improving the Ease-off Doing Business in different industries.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, by the end of February 2025, the total number of Aadhaar Authentication Transactions crossed 14,555 crore, while the total e-KYC transactions exceeded 2,311 crores.

Face authentication is also becoming popular using Aadhaar. In February alone, 12.54 crore base face authentication transactions were conducted, which is the highest monthly figure ever since the introduction of this feature in October 2021.

A total of 97 institutions have been included to use Aadhaar’s face authentication technology with Kotak Mahindra Prime Limited, Phonpe, Karur Vaishya Bank and J&K Bank.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT said that since its launch, the Aadhaar face authentication transactions have crossed 115 crores, out of which about 87 crore have been in the current financial year alone.

UIDAI is now widely used in Finance, Insurance, Fintech, Health and Telecom by UIDAI.

Different departments of the central and state government are also taking advantage of this technology to ensure delivery of profit to targeted beneficiaries.

The ministry said that with its increasing use in banking, finance and other sectors, Aadhaar is playing an important role in India’s digital change.

Meanwhile, the Aadhaar Authority in India crossed 284 crores in January, which shows the increasing role of digital identity verification in daily life.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, it was an increase of 32 percent compared to this month last year, when 214.8 crore transactions were recorded.
