New Delhi, 8 April (IANS). Taking a major step towards digital convenience and secrecy, the Center launched a new Aadhaar app. This app will allow users to digitally verify and share their Aadhaar details. This will eliminate the need to carry Aadhaar card or submit photocopy.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav officially launched the app in the national capital.
Highlighting the importance of digital innovation, the minister described the app as a step to make Aadhaar verification easier, fast and more secure.
Vaishnav said in a video message posted on social media platform X, “New Aadhaar app, face ID authentication through mobile app. No physical card, no photocopy.”
He said that the app gives users the right to share only necessary data through safe digital means. “Now only one tap, users can share the required data, which gives them complete control over their personal information,” he said.
A special feature of the app is face ID authentication, which increases security and makes verification comfortable.
Aadhaar verification can now be done by scanning only a QR code, exactly like UPI payment.
The minister wrote on X, “Aadhaar verification has become as simple as paying UPI. Users can now verify and share their Aadhaar details digitally, ensuring their privacy.”
With this new system, people will no longer need to hand over printed copies of their Aadhaar cards at hotels, shops, airports or any other verification point.
He insisted, “There is no need to hand over the photocopy of Aadhaar during the hotel reception, shops or travel.”
This app is currently in its beta test phase. It is designed with strong privacy security measures.
This ensures that the base details cannot be used, editing or misuse. The information is safely shared and only with the permission of the user.
Describing Aadhaar as “Aadhaar” (foundation) of several government initiatives, Vaishnav also emphasized the role of AI and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in shaping India’s digital future.
He invited stakeholders to suggest ways to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) with DPI to speed up further development, while privacy was placed at the center.
