Adani Group
There has been news of relief from Sri Lanka for Adani Group. The Sri Lankan government on Saturday said that it has appointed a committee to review the wind power projects of Adani Green Energy in Mannar and Pooni districts. The government also said that no decision has been taken to cancel the projects. Government spokesman Nalinda Jayathissa made it clear that the government has decided not to sign the agreement on the basis of power purchase prices fixed in the previous administration in 2023. He said, there was no decision to cancel Mannar and Pooni projects, but a committee was appointed to review them. The committee has started its work, and after the review is over, we will decide whether changes need to be made.
The verdict was criticized
He said that the decision was criticized, as local bidders had allegedly offered low unit value. Jayathissa said, we do not agree with the proposed prices. In such a situation, the previous pricing agreement was canceled, and the committee has been assigned to amend it. He also said that five court cases are pending against Adani Agreement, most of which have been filed by environmental organizations.
Adani Group denied reports
Earlier, the Adani Group had denied reports of cancellation of the power purchase deal with Sri Lanka and described it as “false and misleading”. This clearly mentioned that the projects are still going on despite the US prosecution. The Adani Group said in a statement, “There are reports of Adani’s 484 MW wind power projects in Mannar and Poonri are false and misleading. We clearly say that the project has not been canceled.”
