India focusing on private sector -led economic growth
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday met Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda and Italy Finance Minister Jiankarlo Georgette. Many economic issues were discussed in this important meeting but there was no mention about the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. Sitharaman is in Milan to attend the 58th annual meeting of the multilateral development agency ADB. On the sidelines of the ADB meeting, Sitharaman met Kanda and Georgette and discussed various economic issues before the world and Asian region. The Finance Ministry said that “there was no discussion on issues related to Pakistan in a meeting with ADB President and Finance Minister of Italy in Milan.”

The Finance Ministry said on X, “In a bilateral meeting with the ADB president, the Finance Minister reiterated that the India is focusing on the Economic Growth led by the Private Sector. He is constantly constructing a consistent policy and regulatory environment through adventure initiatives such as insolvency and loan implementation, GST Implementation, Production related encouragement, so that it is more elaborate in trading.”
Discussion on these issues between India and Italy
Sitharaman emphasized that India provides opportunity to ADB to operate new, innovative financing products and models. In this meeting, the ADB president also spoke of giving full support for India’s development priorities directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Developed India 2047’. Sitharaman then met the Italian Finance Minister Georgette and the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen India-Italy economic relations and increase cooperation on global and multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest.
Light on the implementation of Indo-Itly’s joint strategic action plan
Giving separate information, the Finance Ministry wrote on X, “The meeting highlighted the implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Scheme 2025-2029 announced by Prime Minister Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in November 2024, which will depth and speed our cooperation in priority areas.”
