Film city will be developed in Mysuru at a cost of Rs 500 crore
Today, a very good news is coming for the enthusiasts of going to theaters to watch the film. The ticket of any film in any cinema will not be more than Rs 200. However, the film’s enthusiasts will get this fun in only one state. Yes, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Friday that the maximum price of film tickets will be limited at Rs 200 in all theaters of the state including multiplexes. Siddaramaiah also made a big announcement about these Kannada films in his 16th budget.
OTT platform will be made to promote Kannada films
The Chief Minister announced that Karnataka will also create an OTT platform to promote Kannada films. Recently, prominent Kannada actors-producers like Rakshit Shetty and Rishabh Shetty complained that many major OTT platforms were not showing interest in displaying the Kannada ‘Content’. Rakshit Shetty’s production house Paramwah Studio started streaming his Kannada web series ‘Ekam’ on a custom platform in July 2024 due to non -availability of OTT platform.
Industry status will be given to cinema sector
The Chief Minister has also allocated Rs 3 crore to create a collection of Kannada films in both digital and non-digital formats to preserve films showing the social, historical and cultural values of the state. Siddaramaiah, focusing on another demand of stakeholders, said that the cinema sector will be given industry status and it will also be provided all other facilities provided under the Industrial Policy.

According to the Chief Minister, a multiplex movie theater complex will also be developed in the city’s Nandini Layout under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) owned by Karnataka Film Academy. Siddaramaiah said that 150 acres of land has been transferred to the Information and Public Relations Department to develop the International Level Film City at a cost of Rs 500 crore under the PPP model in Mysuru.
