Northeast region is moving rapidly, will develop as the country's big economic hub: government

New Delhi, 23 May (IANS). Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Friday that the country’s northeast region is moving fast and will soon develop into the country’s big economic hub.

Talking to news agency IANS in the national capital, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the government is focusing in infrastructure, tourism, hydropower and other areas in the northeastern states. All the sector regions are growing rapidly. So the Rising Northeast Investor Summit is a very important step. will gain help in.”

On the question of the distance of Northeast from Delhi, he said that this is an old thinking. Due to India’s Act East Policy, Northeast has become the gateway of South East Asian countries in today’s time.

He further said, “Northeast is moving fast in every field with trade, culture and tourism.”

Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh said, “Prime Minister Modi has done the work of connecting the northeast with the country through railway, highway and waterways. The handloom and handicraft are in the DNA of the North East and this is causing major employment opportunities.”

He further said that till date no government has kept investor meat in the North East, but the Modi government has taken this step to increase investment in this area. Along with this, he also described the Northeast as the Gateway of Trade as well as the Gateway of Development.

Nagaland Chief Minister Nephew Rio said at the Rising North East Summit, “This is a good and right step in the right direction. This has been possible due to Prime Minister Modi’s vision and support.”

He further said on the question of employment, “Our government is working on a plan to provide employment to 5,00,000 youths of Nagaland by 2030.”
