New Delhi. In order to provide facilities to the countrymen in each area, the Center often brings various schemes. In this sequence, with the aim of increasing the information of the people, the government has launched a new scheme focusing on technology. Under this, WiFi hotspots of public sector telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will be installed in ‘PM Vani Yojana’. However, it has already started in Mathura. According to Vivek Narayan, DDG, Department of Telecommunications, BSNL will move its 30,000 WiFi hotspots under this scheme. The Modi government at the Center in December 2020 approved setting up of access points on public WiFi networks by local kirana and neighborhood shops through public data offices.
It does not require any license fee or registration. 100 railway stations have also been included in PM Vani Yojana. Railways is operating around 17,000 hotspots. Apart from this, the Railways has also said that in future all its hotspots will be installed under PM Vani framework. The main objective of this scheme is to provide free WiFi services in all public places.
