New Delhi, May 1 (IANS). The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on Thursday denied media reports that claimed that the restaurant body has abolished its partnership with e-commerce platforms.
Media reports claimed operational instability and lack of strategic commitment of ONDC, claiming that NRAI had stopped its plan to include members on ONDC.
Both organizations said in the statement, “We jointly clarify that these claims are wrong and misleading.”
The statement further stated that our partnership remains active as a visionary.
The statement stated that the two organizations are working more strategically to develop an intensive framework. This effort of both organizations will support the development and digital empowerment of food business across the country.
NRAI president Sagar Daryani said, “We have not stopped anything. Our association with ONDC continues and remains purposeful. We are currently in the process of creating a scalable model and are discussing through ONDC’s Food Council, including the participation of all stakeholders like restaurants and network participants and NRAIs.”
He said that the restaurant body believes in ONDC’s open and transforming power of the intermediate network.
In January, NRAI actively tried to onboard its member restaurants on the government supported ONDC platform.
The purpose of this partnership was to enable the restaurant to participate in digital commerce on just and transparent terms.
Senior Vice President at ONDC, Marichi Mathur said, “Our association with NRAI is going on and together we are working to create an inclusive, transparent and inter-operating network, which empowers millions of restaurants and food brands to participate in digital commerce on their own terms.”
Mathur said, “This partnership is important to promote access, visibility and equal development for all size food business. We are looking for innovative avenues that are beneficial for both industry stakeholders and consumers.”
