New Delhi, 22 February (IANS). The number of domestic air travelers in India is estimated to be 1.5 crore in January. This information was given in a report.
In January 2025, the number of domestic air travelers has seen an increase of 0.7 percent on a monthly basis and 14.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
The ICRA report stated that the airline traffic was 17.9 percent higher than the Pre-Covid level (January 2020) figure in January this year.
According to the report, a total of 13.72 crore passengers have flew on domestic routes in the first 10 months of FY 25 (from April 2024 to January 2025). It has recorded a 7.5 percent increase on an annual basis and is 13 percent higher than the pre-coid levels of FY 20.
International passenger traffic performance in Indian airlines has also been strong in January.
In the first nine months of FY 2025, the international traffic in the aircraft reached 2.48 crore passengers, which shows an increase of 14.5 percent on an annual basis and an increase of 41.7 percent as compared to the pre-covered levels.
According to the report, the Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of the domestic aviation industry was 92.1 percent in January 2025, which was 89.2 percent in January 2024. However, it was at 85 percent in January 2020 (Pre-Cowid).
Fuel cost is an important component of airline operating expenditure, with some relief.
From April to July 2024, ATF prices were 5.3 percent on an annual basis and from August 2024 to February 2025 it has decreased by 14.7 percent on an annual basis.
The report states that ATF prices have decreased by 8.1 percent in the period from April 2024 to February 2025 as compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
