Thousands of customers buying Ola Electric’s electric scooter are worried about different problems. Customers are complaining of different problems with their scooters. But these problems of customers have become a big headache for Ola Electric. More than 10,000 complaints related to quality and post-sales service have been received against electric two-wheeler manufacturing company Ola in a year. After these complaints were not resolved, consumer rights regulator CCPA has started action against Ola.

Ola Electric did not take customer complaints seriously

CCPA has issued a notice to Ola Electric in this matter. According to sources, National Consumer Helpline (NCH) was receiving complaints against Ola Electric for the last one year. These complaints were sent to the high command of the company for resolution, but the company did not show the interest it should have shown in resolving these complaints. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) initiated a class action investigation into these complaints and found that NCH had received more than 10,000 complaints in the last one year, the source said.

What kind of problems are the customers facing?

According to the source, customer complaints include taking money during free service period/warranty, delayed and unsatisfactory service, delay in warranty services or outright refusal of service, inadequate service, frequent breakdowns despite service. These include incorrect claims, overcharging and incorrect invoices. Apart from this, there are several issues related to battery and spare parts, failure to provide refunds and documents, non-professional behaviour, closing complaints without resolution, a source said.

Ola Electric has 15 days to respond to the notice.

According to the CCPA, the major reasons for issuing the show cause notice to Ola Electric include alleged violation of consumer rights, deficiency in services, misleading claims and unfair trade practices. CCPA issued a show cause notice against Ola Electric on October 7 and gave the company 15 days to respond. Before issuing the notice, the CCPA headed by Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare and Commissioner Anupam Mishra examined consumer complaints for collective action.
