Yellow and green CNG auto rickshaws seen in Delhi will gradually disappear. Electric auto rickshaws will now replace CNG auto in the country’s capital Delhi. Yes, the Draft of the Delhi government’s EV policy 2.0 recommends the removal of CNG -powered auto rickshaws in a phased manner. The Delhi government may soon announce this new policy. According to the draft of EV Policy 2.0, registration of any CNG auto rickshaw will not be allowed from August 15 this year. Along with this, CNG auto permit will not be renewed from August 15 this year and all such permits will be re-issued for e-auto permit.

What is recommendation about all CNG autorickshaws than 10 years old

The Draft of EV Policy 2.0 has also recommended to remove trains carrying fossil fuel carrying solid waste in a phased manner, which are used in large numbers by municipal bodies and city buses. During the period of EV Policy 2.0, all CNG autorickshaws older than 10 years will be completely replaced, or they will be installed so that they can run from the battery.

Registration of petrol two-wheelers will be closed

A recommendation in the draft has also been made that from August 15, 2026, two-wheelers operating petrol, diesel, CNG will not be allowed. Similarly, the committee has recommended that from August 15, 2025, registration of three-wheelers powered by diesel, petrol, CNG will not be allowed in the case of freight carrier vehicles. It has also recommended converting public transport buses to be operated by DRC and DIMTS into e-batter.

There will also be a change in the rules of buying a car

With the introduction of the policy, DTC and DIMTS will buy only electric buses for city operations and BSIV buses for inter-state service. Also, people who already have 2 cars and are planning to buy a third car, then they will not be able to buy petrol, diesel or CNG car, in such a situation they will be able to buy only electric cars. When they already have two vehicles. This recommendation will be effective after notification of EV Policy 2.0.
