Piyush Goyal met the CEO of top companies, talked about investing in India's EV and renewable energy sector

Paris/New Delhi, 2 June (IANS). Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday met the CEOs of some top companies in Paris and interacted on investing in emerging areas such as Electric Vehicles (EV) and Renewable Energy (RE) of India.

Union ministers are on an official visit to France with the aim of promoting trade and investment and will also participate in the Ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Tuesday.

Goyal wrote in a post on social media platform ‘X’, “I held a meeting with Luka de Meo, CEO of Renault Group. Exchanged India’s growing capacity as an automobile manufacturing hub and emerging opportunities in the EV sector.”

Apart from this, the Union Minister also met Bernard Fontana, president and CEO of the government -owned energy company EDF and discussed India’s growing leadership and sustainable energy solutions in the renewable energy sector.

Earlier, the Union Minister met Patrick Poynane, president and CEO of the French Global Energy Company Trickliegese.

Goyal said, “He discussed the company’s investment plan in India to deepen the partnership in the renewable energy sector.”

The Commerce Minister has also indicated that India may soon sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with Oman. Also told that the talks on this issue between the two countries are moving fast.

The talks for the free trade agreement with Oman of India began in November 2023 and Goyal visited Oman from 27 January to 28 January.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal’s three -day official visit to France began on Sunday to promote economic relations.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Union Minister Goyal will hold bilateral meetings during his three-day event in France, which includes meetings with Economy Minister Eric Lombard and France’s Trade Minister Laurent St.-Martin. The discussion will focus on finding new avenues to strengthen India-France Economic Partnership and increase trade and investment cooperation.
