New Delhi. The Modi government took several steps to bring foreign companies to India under Make in India. One of these is also PLI scheme. This PLI scheme has been very successful in creating employment in India. If we talk about Apple, the American company that manufactures mobiles and laptops, then its phone makers in India and those who supply them have given employment to 1 lakh youth in the last 19 months. This year these companies have given more than 7000 jobs. The month of March is still left. In such a situation, in the current financial year, these companies making Apple phones can give employment to more people.

The Modi government had announced the PLI scheme in August 2021. According to the Business Standard newspaper, after the introduction of this PLI scheme, Apple’s phone maker Foxconn Hon Hai, Pegatron and Wistron gave 60 percent of the total jobs. Of these, Tamil Nadu-based Foxconn Hon Hai alone provided employment to 35,500 youths. Pegatron also has a unit in Tamil Nadu. 14000 youth got employment there. Whereas, 12800 youths have got employment in Karnataka based Wistron.
Tata Electronics, which supplied components to the above companies to make Apple phones, also created jobs. Salcomp has given employment to 11000 youths. Jabil, Foxlink and Sunvoda have also given jobs to the youth. The Modi government had said on 6 October 2020 that 200000 youths would be able to get direct employment through the PLI scheme. Apart from this, indirect employment will also be available. Means total employment will be available to about 300000 youths. According to the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association, about 20 lakh youth have got jobs in this sector in the last 7 years.
