Under the PM-Kisan scheme, Rs 20,657 crore has been transferred to more than 9.58 crore farmers in the latest 18th installment. Giving information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur said on Friday that 9,58,97,635 farmers received Rs 20,657.36 crore under the 18th installment of PM-Kisan for the period August-November 2024. The minister said the PM-Kisan scheme is a central sector scheme launched by the Prime Minister in February 2019 to meet the financial needs of land-holding farmers, PTI reported. Under this scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred in three equal installments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of farmers.
Recovery has also been made from ineligible farmers
According to the news, Thakur said that the farmer-centric digital infrastructure has ensured that the benefits of the scheme reach all farmers across the country without the involvement of any middleman. Maintaining complete transparency in beneficiary registration and verification, the Government of India has distributed over Rs 3.46 lakh crore in 18 installments since inception. Thakur, while replying to a separate question, said that recovery from farmers who were ineligible due to income tax payer, high income group, government employee etc. has been started by the respective state governments. The minister said that a total of Rs 335 crore has been recovered from ineligible beneficiaries across the country so far.
When will the 19th installment of PM Kisan come?
According to reports, the amount of the 19th installment of PM Kisan Yojana can be transferred to the accounts of farmers in the first week of February 2025. However, the government has not yet made any official announcement for this. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is paid every four months. At present, farmers are waiting for the 19th installment of Samman Nidhi.
